Authorities arrested two on driving while intoxicated charges at an overnight sobriety checkpoint on the 1800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway last weekend. 

Six city police officers and an emergency communications technician set up shop between 10 p.m. August 26 and 6 a.m. August 27, checking for motorists for evidence they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol, officials said. 

Along with the two arrests, 12 summonses were issued for various traffic violations, police said.
