The Alexandria organization ALIVE! is organizing a virtual walkathon, StepALIVE!, for residents across the city starting on Sept. 11, according to ALIVE!’s website.
The organization, which aims to address hunger and homelessness in the city, will hold the 39th StepALIVE! Walkathon from Sept. 11 to 13. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will involve walkers taking part remotely in whatever location works best for them, whether it is around the neighborhood or a local park.
There is a $25 registration fee for adults and a $10 fee for children ages 6 to 13 and seniors age 70 and over.
Those who register will receive a t-shirt that they can pick up in the ALIVE! parking lot, 2723 King St., according to the organization’s website.
ALIVE! encourages walkers, whether they are in a group or by themselves, to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
