T.C. Williams High School hockey player Jason Townsend was named the Capital Scholastic Hockey League’s Player of the Year on Feb. 27, according to Monumental Sports.

Townsend, a senior at T.C. Williams, led the league with 21 goals and 20 assists during the 2019-2020 season. He also played a key role in T.C. Williams’ playoff wins.

Townsend had five goals and three assists in the team’s 10-2 quarterfinal win over Woodbridge High School and secured T.C. Williams’ path to the championship with two goals in a shootout against West Potomac High School. T.C. Williams lost to Lake Braddock High School in the CSHL finals on Feb. 29, ending the team’s 11-game win streak.

Townsend wasn’t the only Titan recognized by the CSHL. Owen Grainger, along with Townsend, was named to first team, and Luke Mattson was named to third team.
