Burglars raided a 5400 block Sheffield Court apartment November 22, making off with cash and jewelry while the residents were away, Alexandria police say.
Authorities believe the burglars ransacked the apartment sometime during the day, though how they got into the secured residence and locked bedroom — where the valuables were stored — is unknown.
The victim was at work at the time of the heist, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. Police learned of the break-in about 7:41 p.m. They did not release descriptions of the stolen jewelry.
There were no witnesses, Hildebrandt said, and the department does not have descriptions of the suspects involved. The incident remains under investigation.
