The annual Alexandria Turkey Trot attracted a sizable crowd Thanksgiving morning for its 42nd year in existence.

The five-mile run/walk, which takes place every year in Del Ray, starting at George Washington Middle School, attracted 4,647 runners. Michael Crozier, 24, came in first place overall, with a finishing time of 23:48. Other winners included Scott Carpenter, 22, at 24:03; Aubrey Myjer, 23, at 24:31; Girma Gebre, 24, at 24:37 and Bryan Crook, 28, at 24:43.

Those were far from the only exceptional runners, however. Sarah Rapp, 24, won the race’s female division, clocking in at 26:52. Michael Wardian, 43, won the “doggie division” with running companion Rosie, clocking in at 27:11. Jeremy Lynch, 37, won the stroller division, with a 29:13 pace. The race didn’t just, however, attract 20-somethings. Natalee Urquijo Guerra, 97, of Arlington, finished the race with a 01:12:59 pace. Full results can be viewed here

Representatives from the Alexandria Police Department, the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office and the Alexandria Fire Department acted as grand marshals for the event.

In addition, the Turkey Trot raised $5,000 for local nonprofit ALIVE!, in addition to 2,000 pounds of food and an additional $500 in cash donations.
