A masked man strode into the Wells Fargo Bank last weekend and held up the 330 N. Washington St. business with a knife, Alexandria police announced on Monday morning.

The knife-wielding suspect, described as a man with a medium build between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9, walked into the bank about 9:23 a.m. Saturday and demanded money from a teller. The employee turned the cash over and the suspect fled.

Authorities did not specify the amount stolen during the heist. No one was injured in the incident, they said.

The suspect wore a red and white hooded sweatshirt with a stripe down the sleeve, dark pants, matching gloves and a white mask with fake blood on the cheek during the incident.

The heist comes fast on the heels of an attempted robbery at Bank of America earlier this month.

Anyone with information about either case is urged to contact Detective Sean Casey at 703-746-6853 or the department’s criminal investigations section at 703-746-6711.
