Charles Hooff, the owner and principal broker for Charles R. Hooff Realtors, died on Feb. 2 due to complications from COVID-19. He was 80.
As a member of one of the oldest families in Alexandria, Hooff was born and raised in the city and attended Episcopal High School, which he continued to donate to and support up until his death, according to a Facebook post from Hooff’s daughter Maremi Andreozzi.
Hooff was perhaps most well-known for his involvement in Charles R. Hooff, Inc. Realtors, which was established in 1929 by Hooff’s family. Hooff first became a licensed realtor in 1961 and helped in the development process of several high pro-file residential and commercial projects, most notably the Torpedo Factory condominium complex.
Outside of his profession, Hooff was “a true steward of the land,” Andreozzi wrote. On his Belmont Bay farm, Hooff was known to pick pears, plant trees, watch bluebirds and check in on nearby osprey and eagle nests. Hoof was also an active member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church community.
“Charlie Hooff wanted us to relay that ‘he lived his life his way, made it work and looks forward to seeing you all on the other side,’” Andreozzi wrote.
