To the editor,
It is my honor to address you for the first time as one of your next City Council members. Tuesday night, you, the citizens of Alexandria, spoke out for new ideas, new discussion and new faces to represent you on the next City Council.
In the next three years, we will face many tough issues as a city and I know that, together with my fellow Council members, we can face these issues head on. We will make the tough decisions and we will talk about the tough issues. You have elected me to serve you and represent you and that is what I will do.
I could not have gotten this far without the help of three particular people who gave tirelessly to the campaign. My campaign manager, Catherine Roper, brought excellent event planning skills that were pivotal to getting our message out. Brandon Shultz helped inform me of every issue facing our city while also organizing an outreach effort to reach out to all citizens in Alexandria. Lastly, Pat Malone was a steadfast presence who was always there no matter how stressful the campaign became.
I cannot begin to thank all of my other supporters and voters enough for the trust and responsibility you have given to me. I can promise you that I will continue to listen to all the citizens of Alexandria. I will talk to you about your needs, your complaints and your praises to make sure that our government works to serve the entire city.
In closing, I want to say that the City Council will represent all of Alexandria. I have said during my entire campaign that I did not run for myself, but I ran for all of you. Thank you for putting your confidence in me and I look forward to seeing all of you at the installation of the new Alexandria City Council on July 1 at T.C. Williams.
Sincerely,
Frank Fannon IV
