To the editor:

So Alexandrians who want to keep city elections in May are isolationist? (May Elections Could Be Yesterdays News, May 21-27) Couldnt your writers and editors have come up with a less loaded label? How about localist? Localists support May elections because they believe local issues should drive local elections, not national and international passions. Many also believe the citys diverse interests and opinions should be represented in city government and that one-party rule by the citys permanent majority disenfranchises voting minorities and opens the door to corruption.
