To the editor:

I read that Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor, thought that if the federal government paid 100 percent of the Medicaid bill in the first three years and then 90 percent for some time thereafter to insure an additional 400,000 Virginians, we wouldn’t have to worry about the expense. Really!

Who pays the federal bill? Uncle Sam, our rich uncle? And who funds Uncle Sam? We do, Virginians, and Americans from all 50 states. When the federal bill goes up, the American taxpayer’s bill goes up.
