To the editor:
I write in support of Patrick Murray, candidate for the 8th Congressional District of Virginia. I have followed Mr. Murray from the beginning of his quest for public office. He has always been honest, articulate, and clear in his convictions.
More importantly, I agree with him that lower taxes and curtailed government spending will keep money in the private sector where jobs are actually created. He will also work for real reform of our health care system, including allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines and fixing the out-of-control medical malpractice industry.
I believe he will act as a watchdog to defend Virginia from federal encroachment on our states rights and prerogatives, and that hell refocus the federal government on its proper job of protecting our national security interests.
Mr. Murrays long career in military and diplomatic arenas has prepared him well for national office. He has conducted a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground campaign that has connected with people in all the diverse neighborhoods of the 8th District, along the way.
He won the endorsements of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Virginias Gov. Bob McDonnell (R), Virginia State Board of Education member Dave Foster and many other officials.
For a man who has never run for public office, that these are remarkable achievements. I will be proud to vote for him on November 2.
