To the editor:
I attend the celebration at Mount Vernon Recreation Center each year honoring Rocky Versace (the Medal of Honor recipient from Alexandria who has a statue dedicated to him at the citys Vietnam memorial) and many others on the benches there. Versaces brother (whose family donated his statue) comes each year, as do I and others, including the school principal, students, band and locals from the neighborhood.
How exciting for my sons and daughter when seeing the article and picture (Where Am I? October 1 – 7, 2009) that could have shown their fathers name. My children and grandchildren appreciate the tribute to Paul Richard Karas, killed in Phuoe Vinh, Vietnam, February 3, 1967. Vietnam Wall: Section 11E, Line 112. Thank you, too!
