Dear Editors:

On behalf of the Friends of Dyke Marsh I would like to thank you for publishing John Arundels fine article concerning the National Park Services opening presentation on studying the restoration of this fine wildlife preserve. The article Saving a Sanctuary was on the front page of your April 24-May 1, 2008 edition.

It provides a good account of both the interest and value of the Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve and the well-attended meeting kicking off the Park Services study of restoration and maintenance options. Your paper does a valuable service in calling attention to important local issues such as this and the quality and depth of the reporting reflects a high level of professionalism.

I look forward to reading more in your paper as this project progresses. Please feel free to call upon me, or any other officers or members of The Friends of Dyke Marsh to answer any questions you may have or provide any information that you may need.

Thanks again for your close coverage of important local issues/

Sincerely,

/s/ Robert C. Smith
