Regarding the Times poll question, After missing the playoffs by inches, will the T.C. Williams Titans football team finally make the post-season next year?:

No, I would not bet on T. C. Williams making the playoffs next year. The 6-4 record this year was the first winning season since the 6-4 campaign of 1995.

But it was a hollow achievement. They did not beat a single team this year that finished with a winning record.

Look at the teams in Division 6 that made the playoffs: five from the mighty Concorde District (Robinson, Oakton, Chantilly, Centerville and Westfield). This is the strongest football district in the area.

T.C.s district, the Patriot District, produced only one playoff team, Lake Braddock. But Lake Braddock was state runner-up last year. That was the greatest team in Lake Braddocks 37-year history. Then you have two teams from the Liberty District Fairfax and Langley. The Fairfax Rebels upset Robinson in week two. T.C. hasnt beaten Robinson since 1995. And the Langley Saxons have the areas leading receiver in superstar wide receiver Troy Scharten.

T.C. Williams has improved recently from what they were just a few years ago. But they are not at the level of these high-caliber programs. T.C.s days as a super school football dynasty are ancient history. Times have changed since the 70s and the 80s. I wish the Titans all the best. But I try to be honest and accurate when I analyze the situation.
