To the editor:
It is ironic that opponents of the waterfront plan are suing the city for the alleged failure to provide proper notification of the Alexandria Planning Commission meeting on the plan, when they participated in the meeting.
More importantly, it is hypocritical to complain about this technicality when most of the opponents have tried to intimidate supporters of the plan at various public meetings, including the one held by the commission. I had considered speaking at that meeting but decided that I did not need to be ridiculed with hisses and boos from opponents. So I made my support known through letters and phone calls. Frankly, if opponents cannot behave civilly to others, they should not be permitted to speak.
