To the editor:

Thank you for your article and letters on the failing Alexandria City Public Schools. 

Superintendent Morton Sherman blames the federal government. Other writers in these pages blame the students and parents. I blame the Alexandria City Council for raising taxes every year to give ACPS more and more money. 

It is time to replace the city council with people who are more fiscally conservative.
