To the editor:
After another night of heavy rains I altered my morning dog walk to survey the riverfront for the possible impact of flooding. The water had already receded and left a ribbon of debris along the walkway a testament to careless disposal of plastics and bottles into the river.
As I left, a small city truck pulled up and a worker emerged with his running leaf blower to direct all that trash right back into the Potomac River. The few people who witnessed this sad incident walked away in disgust.
Incidents like these are not isolated as some city workers across Old Town go about their assignments, and I wonder if the lack of common sense could be mitigated through training and accountability. Our town looks seedy and neglected and it is a sad testament to city management or lack thereof.
