The pins are standard-issue but the stakes are extra-high this week for Alexandria Randy Brown as he heads to the AMF Bowling Centers national finals this week in Las Vegas.
Brown is one of 108 finalists in the $500,000 event. The competitors all league bowlers compete in a two-day, elimination-style competition. The bowler in each division with the highest pins-over-average score will walk away with $50,000. Second place brings home $25,000.
In order to reach the finals in Las Vegas, Brown, a league bowler at AMF Alexandria Lanes, had to navigate a 10-week qualifying period, a local final and the district final.
