Bishop Ireton senior swimmer Liz Collins ended her high school career on a high note, breaking the schools record for the 100-meter breaststroke in the Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships.
Collins, who also held the existing record, beat her previous time with a 1:06.11 effort during the late February regional competition. The time netted Collins a fourth place finish in the meet.
The Ireton senior and Alexandria native earned the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim and Dive League champion title after finishing first in the 100-meter breaststroke during a meet earlier in the month.
Collins will swim for The College of William and Mary next year.
