Bishop Iretons Liz Collins was anointed as the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim and Dive League champion after placing first in the 100-meter breaststroke last weekend.
Collins, captain of the girls squad, took the title with a time of 1:08.02. She also placed fifth in the 100-meter fly. A senior, Collins will swim for The College of William and Mary next year.
The Alexandria native also competes with the Arlington Aquatic Swim Club. She was the previous years Virginia State Independent School 100-meter breaststroke champion.
Overall, Iretons girls placed sixth while the boys team came in tenth in a field of 27 teams.
