The St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Saints will settle for a fifth- or sixth-place finish in the annual Interstate Athletic Conference tournament after falling to Landon in the first round.
The Saints’ seven-game losing streak carried over into the post season Tuesday, with a 58-45 loss to the Bears. St. Stephen’s suffered the defeat despite double-digit offensive performances by seniors Justin Goldsborough and Phil Guglielmo.
Landon, 14-9, pummeled the Saints earlier this year in two regular season matchups. The Saints, 3-19, have not won a game since beating Haverford on January 28.
They face off with St. Albans on Saturday for the IAC tournament consolation game before taking a few days off to prepare for the annual Sleepy Thompson Tournament. Like the Bears, the Bulldogs have twice beaten St. Stephen’s in regular season matchups.
