Coming off a 2-0 victory against backyard rival Episcopal, the up-and-coming St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Saints suffered a pummeling at the hands of Landon.
Landon, 5-4 on the season, has been the only team to sweep the Saints on the pitch. When the two teams met in late September, the Bears walked off the field with a 2-1 victory in the books.
This time around it was a team effort for the Bears, who celebrated scoring shots by Alex Steren and Haluk Pence as well as a pair of goals by Cord Peters. Landon keeper Matt Potolichhio recorded four saves in the 4-0 drubbing Friday.
The loss leaves the Saints with an 11-3 record in the 2011 campaign, 5-2 in the conference. They round out the regular season with a matchup against Bullis on Friday and a game against Georgetown Prep on Tuesday.
