Fresh off winning a raft of medals at the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship, T.C. Williams crew took a gold at the 2011 Stotesbury Cup in Philadelphia, the worlds largest high school regatta.
T.C.s girls second eight-boat overpowered James Madison and Winter Park for a first place finish, rowing to victory with a time of 1:12 during the two-day event last weekend.
The boys lightweight eight-boat finished ninth in their heat to advance to the semifinals, but they were knocked out of contention after placing fifth. Their counterparts on the girls senior eight-boat also qualified for the semifinals, ultimately placing fifth with a time of 2:50 in their final race of the Philadelphia regatta.
