The Braddock Road planning process is now under way with an end in sight.
Residents of the Braddock Road area have attended planning meetings for more than a year. On Oct. 1, Planning Director Farroll Hamer introduced the consultant who will guide the planning process and gave the community a schedule.
I have decided not to appoint an advisory committee but encourage anyone in the community who wants to do so to participate in this planning process, she said. This is a very tight schedule so anyone who wishes to participate should plan to attend every meting or get caught up by obtaining materials on the web site or from staff. We will not have time to revisit issues that have been previously discussed.
Also, please express your concerns as we go through the process. Dont wait until the public hearing to do so, Hamer said.
The community process will begin in earnest with two educational workshops on Oct. 16 and Oct. 20. In November, there will be a charette where community members can explore different concepts for the neighborhood. Finally, a new master plan will be presented to the Planning Commission on March 4, 2008, and City Council will hold a public hearing on that master plan on March 15.
