Gadsbys Tavern threw open its doors for visitors to tour the historic site in Old Town, well-known to such notables as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin — and common travelers — since the 18th century. During Gadsbys Tavern Day Open House held Aug. 2,, costumed guides described Colonial life and gave visitors insight into tavern life 200 years ago.
In the ballroom, visitors watched costumed dancers demonstrate an 18th century terpsichorean turn or two.
Gadsbys Tavern Museum presents special events throughout the year.
