There are only a handful of restaurants that welcome diners on Christmas Day and Alexandria is fortunate to have just such an establishment: Yves Bistro in Hoffman Town Center, just off Eisenhower Avenue. This French establishment has fabulous food all year long and a welcoming atmosphere.
The Yves Bistro breakfast and brunch, served until 11 a.m. on weekends, are simply fantastic. Highlights include the Croque Madame — turkey, melted cheese, béchamel sauce on toast
— and the Croque Monsieur — ham, melted cheese and béchamel sauce — on toast. The eggs benedict or eggs Norwegian are both also tasty choices, as is the three egg omelet. A cup of coffee or a Mimosa rounds out the first meal of the day nicely.
As for lunch and dinner, the menu is both varied and moderately priced. The daily special features a soup, appetizer, several entrees, dessert and wine. One of the best deals on the menu is the succulent Maine lobster, served with coleslaw and French fries for $17.95.
Heartier entrees available for under $21 are: roasted pork tenderloin served with apples and a Calvados cream sauce; sirloin steak with maitre de butter; steak tartre with capers and
onions; and Moules Nicoise in a tomato garlic sauce. All of the entrees are served with frites.
Don’t miss this special deal. On Sunday through Tuesday order two entrees and a bottle of wine for just $34. Yves Bistro is an excellent place for getting together with family and friends. Its gentle pace and reasonable prices mean there is something for everyone with an affinity for French food.
Yves Bistro is open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, call 703-3291010 or visit www.yvesbistro.com.
